About the event
Calling together all local birth workers. This could be doulas, midwives, photographers, yoga teachers, basically if you are supporting people around the time of birth, then this is the space for you. It is a time to share our vulnerabilitites, share what it feels like to be supporting birthing people within and out of the system, offering kindness and compassion for ourselves and one another and really holding space for all that comes with supporting people at this time in their lives.
This circle will include everything that you would expect for a circle:
- sitting in circle with opportunities for talking from the heartspace
- connecting with nature
- meditation
- ritual
- crafting
- journalling
- storytelling
- feasting
i set up these circles to give you an opportunity to pause from the busyness of life, to provide an opporunity for connection and kinship with other people who work in the same sector. It is beyond important to me that we pull together as a group of birth workers, that we have a sense of belonging which facilitates healing, growth and transformation.
In this work we are giving, giving, giving and so often we feel underresourced, close to burn out and often, like we need support ourselves. This is your gift to yourself to help hold you, to try to prevent those feelings of solitude in a world that I know can feel lonely. The sacred and safe space created by this circle gives you permission to pause, to breathe deeply and to nourish your innermost self in a room of people who have experienced similar things to you, similar pressures, similar fears and similar joys.
A circle provides space to honour the whole of our experience; gently aiding the ebb and flow of our emotional landscape and making way for our grief, joy, sadness, guilt, hope to be expressed. Each circle nurtures inner enquiry and offers a time for self-reflection and rest, free from judgement.
What to bring:
- A journal/diary/notebook and pen to capture your thoughts, feelings and reflections
- A blanket to help you feel cosy, safe and warm
- Something nibbly to share as we spend time mingling
