About The Author
My name is Merryn Tenalach...
Merryn Tenalach is a writer, community tender, and guardian of Soulton Long Barrow in Shropshire. Her work weaves together ritual, ceremony, and earth-connected wisdom, always with a deep care for the thresholds we each must walk.
Her path has been shaped by childhood encounters with nature, the transformative initiations of motherhood, and years of holding space as a doula, celebrant, and grief tender. Merryn’s journey through challenge and healing has become a tapestry of service, listening, guiding, and creating meaning through words and ritual.
Guided is her first book, born from a lifelong devotion to writing and many mornings spent with pen to paper. It gathers threads from her journals, practices, and community work into an offering of ceremony and story for all who feel called to bring more meaning into everyday life.

Answers To Your Questions
What is Guided about?
Guided is a book of ritual, ceremony, herbal wisdom, and poetic prose. It offers gentle guidance through life’s thresholds — from first bleeding to conception, birth, motherhood, loss, and beyond. It’s an invitation to pause, to mark the moments that shape us, and to create meaning in everyday life.
Who is this book for?
This book is for anyone who feels drawn to ritual, ceremony, and earth-connected living. While it speaks directly to those walking paths of womanhood, its invitations and practices can be adapted by anyone seeking to honour thresholds and transitions in their own way.
I feel scared of what I’m stepping into. Will this book be supportive?
Absolutely. Guided was written with tenderness for the very moments when life feels uncertain, overwhelming, or too big to hold alone. Each chapter offers gentle words, practical rituals, and invitations to pause — so that instead of feeling rushed or isolated, you can feel anchored and supported.
This isn’t a book that tells you what you “should” do. It’s a companion that walks beside you, reminding you that thresholds are not meant to be crossed without care. Even if you’re afraid, you don’t have to be afraid alone.
Do I need any prior experience with ritual or ceremony?
Not at all. Guided is written for both beginners and those already familiar with ritual. Each ceremony is described step by step, with suggestions for how to adapt it so it feels personal and accessible.
Is this a spiritual book?
Guided does not follow or promote any religion or tradition. It offers open, flexible practices that can be shaped to align with your own beliefs or worldview.
Can I use the ceremonies on my own, or do I need a group?
Both are welcome. Some ceremonies work beautifully in solitude, while others can be enriched by sharing with friends, family, or community. The book gives guidance for either approach.
I’ve already passed through some of these thresholds. Is it still relevant?
Absolutely. Guided is not just about personal milestones — it’s about our collective need to honour life’s passages. Even if you’ve already crossed certain thresholds, this book can help you reflect, create new ceremonies of remembrance, or hold space for others moving through them now.
What makes Guided different from other books on ritual?
It blends practical herbal support with lyrical prose and adaptable ceremony, holding equal weight for the physical, emotional, and symbolic aspects of life’s passages. It’s deeply grounded in earth connection while being open to all backgrounds and experiences.
