About the event
Losing a child is a pain that cannot be described. The way it lies heavy on your chest. The way you want to speak their name and tell their birth story or life stories but the rest of the world seems to have moved on. The way every ounce of you would give anything in the world to bring them back, for you to hold them in your womb once more, in your arms, on your lap. The pain, it's like no other.
My name is Charley, I am a trauma-informed doula and ceremonialist in Shrewsbury. I have attended, been with woman, during miscarriage, medical abortion, births of babies born sleeping and sat with families as their children have died. It's work that fills me with such honour, with deep gratitude and also, deep sorrow, for each and every one of you who has been sent on this journey. I wish I could reverse time so that you never had to go through any of this.
It is within this circle space that I hope to allow you the time to talk about your baby or child, to speak their names and tell their stories, no matter their age, each and every one of your children is important to me. It's important that they get voices and that you, your pain, your joys, your journey, gets spoken to.
The circle will be a space for you to talk, listen, be with others who have been through a similar experience to you and whom you know, you can trust. It will be a safe space, held by myself, to allow you to release anger, fear, sadness, grief, and everything else that comes in between including all the times that you feel happiness, and then feel guilty. All of your feelings are welcome in this space.
I am sending love and healing to each and every one of you and, I hope, that in holding this space, you have a space where you can come and be truly you in all the forms that that may look right now.
