About the event
For so long grief and death has been hidden away behind closed doors, in the darkness. Many of us have held shame or embarrassment around feeling grief, let alone sharing it with other people. With this movement, we are being brave, we are challenging the ways things have been done, we are bringing the conversations to the centre of our community, we are connecting with our acnestors, those to whom grieving would have been alike any other emotion. It's time we begin to break down years and years of barriers that have been built around death, the dying and grief. Let the conversations flow.
For those who have worked with me with grief, you will know how I will never tell you that I will take your grief away, help you let go of it or help you to get over it. I allow you the space to put voice to your feelings, to bring words up and out of your body in a loving, caring and compassionate space. To connect with others who are experiecing grief helping you to feel less alone. I offer empathy and guide you towards your own inner knowing because, it's there, it's always there, the knowing in how best to support yourself.
Grief can look different for each person, even when centred around the same loss. Grief is also not only centred around the loss of a loved one. All your grief is welcome, sometimes it centres around the loss of a loved one, the breakdown of a relationship, earth and nature grief, or sometimes, we don't know what our grief is related to, that's ok, everything is welcome in this space.
Shresbury Library are very passionate about providing a space for the community to have a space to come and share their grief and they kindly lend us their Hobbs Room free of charge, they offer tea, coffee and biscuits for us to share and it is with deep gratitude that I accept their kind offer. It helps me to continue this work for those who wouldn't necessarily be able to have access to it. Everyone is welcome.
